Install and Configure OpenERP/Odoo on Ubuntu

Odoo is a suite of open-source business apps written in Python and released under the AGPL license. It is used by 2 million users worldwide.

Odoo was formerly known as OpenERP until May 2014. It was rebranded because version 8 of the software included apps including website builder, e-commerce, point of sale and business intelligence. The software conforms to standard expectations of ERP systems, while providing additional modules beyond the coverage of traditional ERP systems.

Now lets talk about how to Install and Configure OpenERP 7

1. Firstly install PosstgreSQL database

# apt-get install postgresql

1. Download the debian package of OpenERP 7

# wget http://nightly.odoo.com/7.0/nightly/deb/openerp_7.0.latest_all.deb

2. Install the debian package

# dpkg -i openerp_7.0.latest_all.deb

3. If it shows some error of dependencieds, then install it forcefully

# apt-get -f install

4. Open PostgreSQL configuration file

# nano /etc/postgresql/9.1/main/pg_hba.conf

5. Replace all md5 and peer with trust

6. Save and exit configuration file

7. Restart PostgreSQL and OpenERP

# service postgresql restart
# service openerp restart

You can seet the GUI of openerp and use it on browser
